Just as two local businesses failed—Mel’s Drive-in in Seal Beach and Denny’s in Los Alamitos-- another company expands in Orange County. Opening for business in OC is fast growing Arborwell--and, they are hiring in Orange County.

Started in 2001, Arborwell is a Hayward California based professional tree management company which is opening a new branch in Orange County. The company said in a statement “This move illustrates Arborwell's continued pattern of stable growth since the company's inception eight years ago. Even in this tough economic climate, Arborwell has managed to make the San Francisco Business Times' list of the "Fastest Growing Private Companies in the Bay Area" for the fifth year in a row, as well as the Inc. 5000 list of the nation's fastest growing companies for the third consecutive year.”

Arborwell’s new OC operations are directed by Kirk Hinshaw, who recently joined the firm as. vice president of the Orange County operations. Hinshaw said “It is very exciting to see how Arborwell has raised the bar in terms of quality work and unmatchable customer service. I am looking forward to bringing my customers a level of professionalism that I could not have achieved on my own, a level that I believe does not currently exist in the areas of Southern California that I service."

Hinshaw has over fifteen years experience in the arboricultural industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resource Management from Southern Illinois University, and has particular interest in the field of plant health care. Like all Arborwell arborist, Hinshaw is an ISA certified arborist

Don’t know what an “ISA certified arborist“ is?

It’s a lot more than a guy with a pick up truck and a chain saw. According to Arborwell, “Our arborists are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture, a worldwide professional organization dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation for trees and to promoting research, technology, and the professional practice of arboriculture. The ISA Arborist certification was developed for professional arborists in order to provide the public and those in government with a means to identify those professionals who have demonstrated, through a professionally developed exam and education program, that they have a thorough knowledge of tree care practices. It is also designed to be an educational program that will improve technical competency of personnel in the tree care industry and create incentives for these individuals to continue their professional development.”

As we have written in other articles, in these difficult economic times, the best place to look for jobs is with fast growing companies. Arborwell is no exception. In fact, they are forward looking enough to invite resumes for positions which they do not specifically list. For the job seeker, this means that if you can show them how you can bring value to the company, they are interested in talking to you. Arborwell is looking for sales people, administrative personnel in their Northern California office and are hiring crew members for their OC operation. Arborwell might have a product that could help solve Seal Beach’s long standing tree management problem. Councilman Gary Miller has been asking for a city-wide tree management plan for months.

According to the company, “We also have Arborview, a high-tech tree inventory and database management program that allows us to manage multi-year tree maintenance budgets, have GPS compatible field data collection, have integrated mapping and GIS capabilities, and to create customized, flexible reports and charts.”

According to Peter Sortwell, Arborwell's Founder, President and CEO, “Arborwell's team of ISA-certified arborists studies each tree's overall system to ensure longevity and vitality from the ground up. Arborwell offers tree pruning, removal, preservation, installation, plant health services, and arborist consultations to contractors, commercial property managers, golf courses, municipalities, and residential properties.”
