A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries as a result of a solo vehicle collision with the center median at the intersection of Katella Avenue and Siboney Street on August 6, 2010. The accident occurred at approximately 9:20 pm and a Los Alamitos police officer witnessed the accident while conducting an unrelated traffic stop in the area.

The officer rendered aid until the arrival of the Orange County Fire Authority who transported the male victim to the Los Alamitos Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to witnesses, the motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old James Crumby of Garden Grove, was traveling west on Katella at an unknown speed when he drove his Harley Davidson motorcycle into the raised divider. It is unknown if the victim was impaired by any intoxicants and the investigation remains on-going. The Los Alamitos police are asking that anyone who witnessed the collision contact Traffic Sergeant Maria O’Connell at (562) 431-2255, extension 418 with information.
