In the early afternoon of June 3, 2010, the Cypress Police Department arrested a man for attempting to carjack three separate victims near the intersection of Lincoln and Bloomfield. Police received several 911 reports of a man with a large knife threatening cars near the intersection. Police also reported the defendant walked into a nearby beauty salon and threatened to kill employees and customers with the knife.
Cypress PD released the following statement:
“As the first Cypress officer arrived on scene, the suspect was seen running eastbound on Lincoln. He was taken into custody without incident. The weapon was later found discarded nearby.”
On Monday of this week, the Orange County District Attorney charged Brian Lewis Folsom, 46, with three counts of felony attempted carjacking, with enhancements for personal use of a deadly weapon and three prior convictions for theft, car theft, and possession of a controlled substance. The defendant pleaded not guilty.
As of yesterday, Folsom remained in custody, with bail set at $150,000. His pre-trial date was set for June 10 and a preliminary hearing was set for June 21.
Police said Folsom “was found to be a local transient and on parole.” He was unsuccessful in all of the carjacking attempts and no one was injured during the incident.
