ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Over the last several months, the Cypress Police Department experienced an increase in residential burglaries throughout the city. During these crimes the suspect(s) forced their way into homes and stole laptops, expensive electronics, jewelry, currency, firearms, and other items of value.

Cypress investigators immediately began linking the crimes together and several leads were developed. As a result of those leads and many hours of investigative work and surveillance, two search warrants were obtained and served on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, in the City of Moreno Valley in Riverside County. As a result of the search warrants, investigators recovered what they believe to be stolen property from victims in Cypress as well as Anaheim and other Orange County cities. Some property has been identified from Cypress burglaries, but a large amount of property has yet to be linked to any victims. Investigators estimated over 100 thousand dollars ($100,000) in stolen property was recovered, including expensive jewelry and laptops, LCD and plasma TVs, and foreign currency and firearms. The four suspects were also arrested, two of which are twin brothers. It was learned the suspects were pawning the stolen property at a variety of pawn shops throughout the Riverside County area.

The four suspects were transported to the Cypress City Jail where they were booked for burglary charges. They were eventually transferred to the Orange County Jail where they are being held for bail pending their appearance in court at the West Justice Center on Thursday, September 2, 2010.

Investigators are reaching out to the public asking if anyone was a victim of a residential burglary over the last several months in Orange County where identifiable property was stolen to please call investigators at (714) 229-6631.
