According to Orange County District Attorney Spokesperson Farrah Emami, the defendant pleaded not guilty in court yesterday, July 7, to 1 felony count of adult elder abuse, 1 felony count of aggravated assault, with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury, and causing great bodily injury to an elder.
Emami told www.OC180NEWS.com “At the request of the District Attorney’s Office, his bail was increased {from $50,000} to $100,000.” The defendant did not post bail and remained in custody. His pretrial hearing is set for July 12, 2010.
The victim was admitted into the Los Alamitos Medical Center with moderate injuries and is expected to survive. The suspect was booked into the Cypress City Jail on the above charges and later transported to the Orange County Jail.
