By Denise Landon

Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church is hosting an afternoon of fun and entertaining jazz music on Sunday, August 29th at 4:00 p.m. featuring Peggy Duquesnel and Dean Grech.

Peggy is an accomplished jazz pianist, vocalist, and songwriter who has performed with such notables as Dionne Warwick and Henry Mancini. She has released eight CDs as a featured artist in the jazz and inspirational markets and served as stadium keyboard artist for both the Anaheim Angels and the Mighty Ducks. Peggy is an adjunct professor at Concordia University and also serves as the Director of Contemporary Music at Good Shepherd.

Also appearing will be Dean Grech, a versatile guitarist and vocalist who has worked with such noted pop & jazz artists as Sting and Eric Marienthal. Dean’s debut CD, “Look Out,” features a smooth jazz sound with traditional influence and has topped the jazz radio charts. Appearing with Peggy and Dean will be Andrew Carney on trumpet, Ernie Nunez on bass and Kendall Kay on drums.

The proceeds from this concert will benefit Rising Tide, an after-school program that assists children in downtown Long Beach. Housed at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Rising Tide gives children a safe place to go after-school, provides them with meals, homework assistance, and pairs them with adult tutors who serve as role models. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the Friends of Music fund at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. The suggested donation for this afternoon of wonderful music is $10 at the door.

Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church is located at 11600 Los Alamitos Blvd., Los Alamitos. For more information, contact the church office at (562) 493-2553 or log on to www.gspc.org.
