Mild surf and weather has slowed our rescue activities considerably. This time of year gives us and opportunity to perform much needed maintenance to our equipment and building. Starting Friday January 20 the forecast calls for a combo swell to arrive in Seal Beach, we are expecting to see surf in the 2-4 foot range throughout the weekend.

The Seal Beach Lifeguard Association is hosting the annual Seal Beach Surfing Championships this weekend. As stated above, the surf looks promising however the weather looks to be less than ideal with possible rain in the forecast.

MSO Nick Bolin lifeguards Ryan Tulay and Mike Diller participated in a regional scuba dive training at Lake Mission Viejo today. Lifeguards from all over Orange County got together to practice underwater coordinated search patterns, and underwater lifting procedures. This is valuable training for our guard to remain proficient in these types of operations.
