The City of Los Alamitos announced the following activities, signup deadlines, and program information:
Adult Dance Classes, Healthy Living and Nutrition, Pee Wee Track & Field Clinic, Skateboarding & Scootering, Supersitters! Babysitting Smarts, and Wedding Tour of LA’s Garment District.
Adult Dance Classes
Check out a variety of dance classes for adults ages 18 yrs. and older offered by the City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department. Join beloved instructor Anne Pennypacker at the Seal Beach Marina Center and learn Argentine Tango, Adult Tap, or Adult Ballet/Jazz…. or check out her Beginning Social Dance and Intermediate Ballroom classes at the Los Alamitos Community Center. We also offer Belly Dance for Fitness with new instructor, Pakita. Additionally, popular instructor, Carri Fox is offering Beginning Salsa as well as Intermediate Swing classes. Sign up for one class or a few, and dance away to learn something new, improve your skills, stay fit, or to simply have fun!
Seal Beach Marina Center is located at 151 Marina Drive at 1st Street in Old Town.

Healthy Living and Nutrition
Tired and still feeling a little guilty that you may have indulged too much during the holidays? The City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department has just the right class that could help: Let’s Get Back on Track the Healthy Way! Come join certified nutritionist, Christina Kelly, and learn how to get your health back on track by setting and achieving healthy goals. Participants will learn life skills in attaining and maintaining a healthy body weight and fitness level. Seminars will include personal consultation on how to set your own health goals, individual meal plans for your lifestyle and goals, along with customized workout tips and support!
Class #2075-10. This 4-week class for ages 18yrs. and older will meet at Nutrishop, 6062 Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove (Valley View & Chapman) from March 6-28. Students can attend morning or evening classes during the session: 6:00-7:00pm on Tuesdays; or 9:00-10:00am on Wednesdays. Fee: $34 + $2 processing fee.
Pee Wee Track & Field Clinic
The City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department is currently accepting registrations for Pee Wee Track & Field Clinic for ages 5-7. Boys and girls will be taught the fundamental track and field skills by competing in the 50 meter dash, 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, long jump and softball throw. Program will culminate in a Los Alamitos Pee Wee Track Meet. $50 fee includes t-shirt and award. Games will be played on Wednesdays, 4:15-5:15pm, at Oak Field Track. Session runs from March 14 to April 18.
Skateboarding & Scootering
The City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department has something really fun and cool for kids ages 6-13 yrs.: Skateboarding & Scootering! Whether you’re a beginner or ready to learn more advanced tricks, this class is right for you! Make new friends, advance your skateboard or scooter skills, and have fun in our private skate park. Requirements: A signed Skatedogs waiver form, a skateboard or scooter, knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet.
Sign up now! Fee for 5-week session is $125 + $2 processing fee. All participants will receive a Skatedogs T-shirt! Class #1482-11: Feb. 25 to Mar. 24, Saturdays from 9:00 to 10:30am. Classes will be held at Heartwell Park Basketball Courts, 5801 E. Parkcrest Street in Long Beach.
Supersitters! Babysitting Smarts
Sign up now for Supersitters! Babysitting Smarts (Class # 1229-10) and learn to be a super-sitter! This one-day workshop offered by the City of Los Alamitos for children 11yrs. and older is a great common sense course designed for anyone caring for children. Students will have a quick review of basic CPR and first aid. Students will also learn emergency preparedness and safety proofing.
Class will meet on Monday, March 5, 3:30-5:30pm at the Community Center Lounge, 10911 Oak Street. Class fee is $31+$2 processing fee; plus additional $6 materials fee payable to instructor.
Wedding Tour of LA’s Garment District
Planning a wedding? The City of Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department may help ease the stress a little bit with a fun and informative 1-day excursion. Join instructor Eliana Drew’s Wedding Tour of L.A.’s Garment District, and discover where to buy wholesale wedding supplies, flowers, gowns, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses, fabric and all the trimmings in the fabulously exciting Fashion District downtown Los Angeles. Tour the streets where you can also find all the little accessories to successfully decorate a wedding venue. Bargaining techniques and combining purchases to get volume discounts will also be covered. Participants will take public transportation and en route, will discuss individual needs and map the area for an optimum shopping experience.
Class #2066-10. This class is for ages 18 yrs. and older. Group will meet at the Buena Park Metro Link Station at 8400 Lakeknoll Drive (between Malvern Ave. & Dale St.) on Saturday, March 3rd, at 8:30am. Fee: $15 + $2 processing fee. Additional $15 required for students to pay their own train and bus fares.
