Redistricting Commission Proposes Moving Rossmoor And Los Alamitos Congressional Districts To Long Beach – Public Hearing Tomorrow

Submitted by Rossmoor Homeowners Association
The Citizens Redistricting Commission has released the first drafts of the new Congressional, State Senate and Assembly districts. Rossmoor is ok for now for the Senate and Assembly districts, but the first draft proposes moving Rossmoor and Los Alamitos from Ed Royce's Orange County Congressional District to Congresswoman Richardson's Long Beach district.

The reason for this move is unclear since we have NO community of interest with the proposed Long Beach district. Furthermore, it is noted that Congressman Ed Royce who has been a long time supporter of Rossmoor and Los Alamitos would no longer be our Congressional representative.

If this proposed change bothers you, you should attend the public Hearing (the only one currently scheduled in OC) at Cal State Fullerton in Mackey Auditorium this Saturday, June 18th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

You can also note your opposition to this redistricting move by email on the Redistricting web site - http://www.wedrawthelines.ca.gov. Just click on the preceding link and go to the web site and register your concerns. The Final districts will be submitted to the Sec. of State on August 15th after receipt of public input.
