Site Update/Marketing Tip

You Should Be On Twitter!

OC180NEWS is broadening our coverage of important news for West OC. One of the tools for getting our readers up to date information from important people is through Twitter feeds.

Twitter is an easy to use tool to send out messages of not more than 140 characters to people who want to know what is on your mind. Think 140 characters aren’t enough to work with? Here are a few hypothetical examples:

* I am opposed to raising taxes to balance the federal budget. Higher taxes are job killers and more jobs are our most important goal.

* I will continue to oppose paying for corporate tax breaks with cuts in Social Security. Wealthy individuals must pay their share.

• Now, Rep. Ed Royce must fight for his seat. The race between him and Miller will be interesting. Does either represent your views?

We are not talking about the typical dribble which frequently fills the social media space, but rather messages from people who are of special significance to West OC. Of course we can't expect that every message from an important person will be significant, but keeping up with what our politicians and other key people are thinking about should at least prove interesting.

Our goal is to get feeds from our elected officials, law enforcement, government professionals, school administrators, church leaders, and others prominent in West OC community life. We would like to hear from all of the city council members for Los Alamitos and Seal Beach, their police departments, RCSD directors and officials, Rossmoor Homeowners Association Board Members, OC Sheriff's Department, our elected county, state, and national representatives, administrators from individual schools in West OC and the Los Alamitos Unified School District, and any other prominent West OC people.

Please let us know if you, or somebody you would recommend, do twitter, or should do Twitter, and might be appropriate for inclusion on OC180NEWS.

Here are a few of the people we are following on Twitter:

Gov. Jerry Brown, U.S. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, U.S. Rep. Loretta Sanchez, Seal Beach Council Member Ellery Deaton, and Los Alamitos Police Department.
