Winter storms bring great sailboat racing weather—Local Racing Season Off and Running

Last Saturday and Sunday, the Long Beach Yacht Club was only one of more than 30 West Coast yacht clubs to host the Southern California Yachting Association’s 81st Midwinter Regatta. But it certainly must have stood out from the rest as man and machine on 34 boats were tested in consistent winds of 15-20 knots both days. Several spinnakers shredded, hardware broke and one crewmen received minor injuries when the six-foot swells and choppy seas added to the challenge.

Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament This Saturday in Los Alamitos—Win a New High Definition Television and More

Imagine this—we finally get some winter rain, and it’s time to think about baseball. Many of our local boys play in either the St. Hedwig Pony Baseball or the Los Alamitos Youth Baseball Pony leagues. These leagues, which just recently held their tryouts and drafts for the 2010 season, are the feeder programs for the main local baseball action—Los Alamitos High School Baseball. And, that local baseball action begins now, and this coming Saturday, January 23, at 5:30 PM, Texas Hold ‘Em and baseball come together.
