City Press Release: Another Success For The City Of Los Alamitos In The Frivelous Lawsuit

On Friday, July 1, 2011, Judge Banks of the Orange County Superior Court dismissed another claim in the case against the City of Los Alamitos filed by Art DeBolt and J.M. Ivler -- calling themselves "Citizens for a Fair Trash Contract" – last November. When filed during last year’s election, the case involved three claims against the City, their political opponents on the City Council, and the trash company that the Citizens group held responsible for the loss of the 2008 City Council elections.

Submitted By Robert Goldberg, Seal Beach

Hi Dave,

I just read your full posting on-line. You did a really great job of getting your arms around a very complex issue and communicating it clearly and concisely.

Did The Rossmoor Homeowners Association “Rebuff” The Rossmoor Predator Management Team?

Submitted by Bill Gekler, Secretary, RHA Board of Directors.

I personally take umbrage at the OC180NEWS statement "the RHA politically rebuffed the RPMT". Just the opposite happened.

Loved It!

“That warning succeeded in keeping the crowd under control for a few speakers, but gradually, people came forward and started mentioning something about freedom of expression and all that constitutional stuff. While the three armed police officers looked unsmilingly on, and in spite of the Mayor’s repeated admonitions, the crowd gradually took their constitutional liberty and began to applaud at their pleasure.”

Speeding Ticket

Submitted By Ron Singer

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone.
Fourth time in as many months...
How could a guy get caught so often?
When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard...
Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror.

Daylight Coyote Sighting In Seal Beach

October 27, 4:30 pm - We were sitting in front of our home with our dog in my lap when a coyote trotted by, not more than 5 feet away. We yelled at it, and it scurried away. We called animal control, but no one responded. We have alerted all the neighbors. We called Animal Control at 8:15 and were told we should not react, that the coyotes are a part of the environment and that Animal Control will do nothing---no trapping, etc. We just have to stay in our homes and hide.

Dee Schumacher
Corsair Way
Seal Beach

Big City Political Dirty Tricks Come to Los Alamitos City Council Race

And now, the official OC180NEWS editorial position on political campaigns: Don’t believe anything you hear, read, or see, about politics, unless, of course, it comes from OC180NEWS.

Very comprehensive article. I love the editorial position. Thanks, Jody

“It's really informative to have one article with all the candidates’ opinions”

Editor’s Note:
We received the following comments from Jody Shloss, a frequent reader and Los Alamitos City Council watcher. Her comments are in reference to our article Los Alamitos City Council And Candidates Take Position On Green House Gases – No Vote In Seal Beach, which was published September 8, 2010.

We thank Jody for identifying our error in the original article.
Jody writes:
“Good article about the green issue and the CC and candidates. Interesting that the TEAM of Mejia, Kusomoto and Sheridan all had different takes on the issue. They are running as a slate. Good to know they are not clones of each other.

Thanks for Los Alamitos Reporting

Dear Ms Barr & staff,
Thanks for the time and energy you invest in reporting what's going on in Los Alamitos. As a "hobby" blogger myself (LetsFixLosAl.com: http://letsfixlosal.com/blog/ ), I know how much time it takes to research, organize, and write even a brief post.
